Acting for Improvisers: Keeping it Real

Sunday Nov. 4    |   12:30 – 2:30pm

Game, relationship, listening, heightening and specifics are all key components to becoming a great improviser.  Unfortunately, performers are sometimes so concerned with the rules that they forget that they are in the middle of performing live theater.  In this workshop, Neil Garguilo will work on how to get you out of your head and commit to a scene.  He will help you ground your characters and show you how honesty and realism will drive the comedy and make your performances memorable.

Neil is one of the founding members of Dr. God and a working actor based out of Los Angeles.  He has studied at Pace University, The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, iO West, Second City and more.  He is the faculty improv teacher at both The Art of Acting Studio and The Edgemar Center.

In addition to the hundreds of stage shows, Neil has appeared on G4′s Attack of the Show, VH1's Stevie TV, CBS’s The Bold & the Beautiful and dozens of commercials.  He currently plays the role of Principal Ed Cox on MTV’s Awkward and has multiple projects in development.  Neil is in to you.
