Actor, Comedian, Writer, and Owner of The People's Improv Theater
Ali Farahnakian has over twenty years of Improv experience, was one of the original members of the Upright Citizens Brigade, is a former SNL writer, performer on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, featured actor in many major motion pictures, and the founder/owner of The People's Improv Theater (PIT). More information about him can be found here or here. During Ali's time at Fallback he'll be offering two workshops:
Saturday, Nov. 3 | 10:00am – 1:00pm
This three-hour workshop is for anyone who has ever thought about writing sketch comedy for stage or television. If you've got the ideas and want to know how to build a sketch, this class is for you. This class will demystify what an SNL sketch looks like, what a "packet" for SNL or MAD TV consists of and what "readers" are looking for in a "packet." The class will focus on a commercial parody as the model for this (which you will bring to the first class, under 2 pages in the SNL format we'll provide) with discussion and feedback to follow. As one of the only former SNL writers teaching in the country, Ali will give you a clear concise point of view of someone who has been in the belly of the beast in a fun and nurturing environment. Ali has taught this class to hundreds people.
Saturday, Nov. 3 | 1:30 – 4:30pm
This class is for improvisers who are looking to fine tune their work. We will take everything you have been working on in the world of long-form improvisation and solidify your learning thus far. We will work on drills and exercises that will reinforce the vernacular of Improvisation
